Jason A. Holt

I have lived most of my life in Longview, Texas. I am a 1993 graduate of Spring Hill High School, and I graduated from LeTourneau University here in Longview with a B.B.A. degree. After graduation, I graduated from Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas, with a J.D. degree. While at Baylor, I was a member of the Order of the Barristers and served as Executive President of the Baylor Law School Student Bar Association.

My East Texas Journey

My East Texas life journey began when my family moved here when I was three years old. Nothing is more important to me than my family. I am blessed to be the husband of Krystal Holt, and together we have three children – Alli, Walker and Griffin – in each of whom we take great pride. We enjoy traveling as a family and participating in many outdoor activities. As a family, we have a deep love for the mountains of Colorado. We have traveled there many times over the years, and created memories too numerous to count.

Education

Education has always been a family value, and after graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1993, I attended and graduated with honors in 2000 from LeTourneau University here in Longview with a B.B.A. degree. Thereafter I attended Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas, and graduated in May of 2003 with a degree of Juris Doctor. While at Baylor, I was a member of the Order of the Barristers and served as executive president of the Baylor Law School Student Bar Association.

First Law Practice

After completing law school, I took a position with Potter Minton law firm in Tyler, Texas. While at Potter Minton, I was a member of the transactional section of the firm, specializing in complex business transactions, entity formation and estate planning. It was at Potter Minton that I developed the skills necessary to proactively counsel my clients in very diverse matters that face business owners. In 2006, I left Potter Minton for the opportunity to return to Longview to work at the law firm of Bunt & Wright. While at Bunt & Wright, I continued to develop the skills needed to represent my clients in today’s business climate.

Current Practice

In late 2007, I partnered to form the law firm of Hill & Holt, PLLC, where I continued to develop my practice. On June 1, 2014, I left that firm and went into solo practice. My primary practice consists of guiding business owners through asset and stock purchase and sale transactions, entity formation and the myriad of other issues that present themselves to business owners in today’s complex business world. Additionally, I have a very active and diverse real estate and estate planning and probate practice. Regardless of the size of the estate involved, I am equipped to guide my clients through these difficult areas of the law. I have also continued to handle many litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout Texas.

Community Service

I’ve enjoyed serving the community as an associate municipal judge for the City of Longview for three years, and I also volunteered as a Longview Teen Court Judge for several years. I served as an Adjunct Professor at LeTourneau University where I taught Business Law. Additionally, for a number of years, I taught the entity selection and operation portion of the How to Start and Operate a Small Business in East Texas class presented by the Kilgore College Small Business Development Center twice a year at the Kilgore College Longview Center.
